When did BT start assigning IPV6 addresses? I have a script that grabs my external IP address to show it in a conky instance, which stopped working a couple (maybe more) weeks ago. Today I decided to fix it, and just assumed that the opendns service was no longer available. After a couple of checks on alternative services, I now have an IPV4 and an IPV6 address. IPV6 is new – when did BT add this?

Ryzen 7 1800X, 16 GB, 6 (yes - 6) HDs inc 2 SSDs, 4 RPis - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, NV GTX 1060 6GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.

Apparently a rolling roll-out since 2016, but really a 2017 kickoff IF you have Homehub 5.

I have the smarthub, and knew nothing about this.

Funny enough I noticed last week when my router died and I plugged in the TT hub tt was now using ipv6. When I sent my router up probably 2015/16 I remeber turning the function off within the router as I knew TT was yet to start rolling them out.

Makes no odds to me atm. But it did catch my eye.

Not the end of the world. I still have an IPV4 address, which I’ve re-wrirtten the script to fetch. I was just curious.
