This evening I posted my previous Samsung HW-J250 soundbar on local Facebook Marketplace. 10 minutes later, a young lass messaged me for it. 25 minutes later she was here, paid the asking price and left with it.

    Gobsmacked.

If it’s the Psychic Network why do they need a phone number?

Actually I used to see Elvis in journeys from here in Lincs to my old county of Notts. He* was on Door duties outside The Fox pub/restaurant in Kirton, near Tuxford.     https://tinyurl.com/y4zpupuy

*Well, a life-size and very accurate figure of him anyway, all dressed in his ’70’s Vegas concert karate jumpsuit. There is a steep downhill stretch followed by a hairpin turn at the bottom, before seeing the pub. Unfortunately, Elvis left the building after a bad winter. Can’t blame him, it’s a bit warmer in the chip shop.😆😊

I used FB Marketplace last month and was very impressed with it too.

We’d just bought a ‘new’** ( ex-photoshoot/display ) sofa and recliner for the lounge and needed to move the old one on. It was 7 years old but still in very good condition. We didn’t want anything for it, as when we were starting up years ago, we would have loved to have found something like it for those first few years.

We put the ad in and within an hour had had three replies. We dealt with them in order and when the first one came back and said she couldn’t get them transported, she dropped out and we went with the next. They popped round that evening and both wanted it and could move it. We arranged for them to collect it on the Bank Holiday Monday as the new set was coming the following day. It was a young family and they were just moving in to their first home. They were delighted with it and also took the  matching rugs, mirror  and wall art, which saved us a trip to the charity shop.

** We were very impressed with the company on ebay – they specialised in ex-display/photoshoot and when they arrived, you couldn’t tell they weren’t new. We got the 3 seater sofa ( in Fenwicks for £3ooo ) the electric recliner ( £1400 ) for £700 and £800 respectively. SWMBO is delighted. Company is HERE . They’re in Rochdale, but delivery to Kent was still free.

Only downside to the whole experience was because the suite was blue, the room had to be redecorated, so the old red chimney breast got stripped and re-wallpapered in pale blue, the brown blinds at both windows got replaced with grey ones, brown rug went into the front room replaced by a blue/grey one, the walls needed to be re-painted a shade or two lighter and the curtains at the patio door needed to be changed. We got a new waste bin in a soft grey, but couldn’t find a newspaper rack that matched, so I painted the old brown faux leather one grey, and it worked!!

That’s the one downside to having a co-ordinated colour scheme and changing a core item!!! But it kept me out of mischief for a while.

Thanks for that furniture link JayCeeDee. SWMBO and I were looking for a two seat sofa, high backed and low seat to allow my tiny (but feisty) Gert to sit with her feet on the floor, plus a swivel chair and footstool. We have already spotted exactly what we want although changed the setup to 2 chairs and a swivel chair. We are donating our big 3 seat recliner settee to our gdaughter, who is waiting to move into a first home with her bf. She is also getting what was her single wardrobe from when she was 4 and lived with us, along with her then 2yo brother. That will allow me to remove all the stuff I have in it and build the bookshelf I bought over a year ago, to keep it!

The family is digging out whatever we can find that will help them set up, although she has been buying stuff for 2 years and storing it at her long-suffering dad’s house, whilst living with her in – laws miles away. I will pass the link you gave to her, it will help her a lot.

My wife purchased out current couch and two single recliners of ebay, they are very nice and actually comfy for me. (not had a chair in the lounge that fit my back in almost 20 years). I was amazed they got delivered in a simgle small boxes. (3 boxes 3 items) and it all just clicked together with very secure metal rail like attachments.

I was very skeptical when I arrived home to see these boxes and was informed it was a 3 pice suite of ebay. Less than a grand all in. I thought it would be crap. Best one we have had, and by for the cheapest. I’d of never of agreed to an ebay couch, not liek I could off took it the post office to return it lol.

That’s me too, but we knew the make we wanted – G Plan – had sat in the various models in Fenwicks, so the only toss-up was fabric or leather. Either suited me, but the wife was bouncing between one and the other, for multiple reasons, but decided on the leather as most practical for her ( messy ), any dogs that might dare to try it out, and overall durability.

Personally, I think she just wanted a change from leather, that we’ve had very happily for 40 odd years, but then convinced herself on the practicality stakes!!😀😘

It then became a case of where to purchase and the ebay store won out on cost/value, for what was, effectively, a new branded suite for under half price.👍👍
